Who should not undergo treatment for nasolabial folds, marionette lines & barcode wrinkles?

Fast results, quick treatment, and a natural, youthful appearance

While most people can safely benefit from non-surgical treatments such as fillers, Botox, threads, or laser, there are certain conditions or situations where it’s best to postpone or avoid these procedures.

At BeautyFLY Medical, your safety and satisfaction come first. That’s why we always conduct a thorough medical consultation before beginning any treatment.

People who should not undergo the treatment

1. Pregnant or breastfeeding women
Hyaluronic acid itself is a natural substance found in the body, but there are not enough studies on the safety of injections during pregnancy or breastfeeding. To avoid any possible risks, the treatment is not recommended during these periods. Hormones associated with pregnancy and breastfeeding may also affect the body’s response to the injected substance.

2. People with autoimmune diseases
Autoimmune diseases such as lupus (SLE), rheumatoid arthritis, scleroderma, or multiple sclerosis cause the body’s immune system to attack itself. In these cases, the body’s response to hyaluronic acid may be unpredictable and can cause an increased immune response, inflammation, or malabsorption of the substance. A specialist should be consulted before the injection and further tests should be considered.

3. Patients with a tendency to severe allergies
Hyaluronic acid-based fillers sometimes contain preservatives, such as lidocaine (an anesthetic), which may cause an allergic reaction in people who are sensitive to them. People with a history of severe allergic reactions (anaphylaxis) should inform their doctor and consider other options.

4. People with active skin infections in the treatment area
If there is active skin inflammation, such as severe acne, active herpes, bacterial or fungal infection, it is recommended to postpone the injection until the condition has subsided. Injecting into an inflamed area may worsen the infection, cause a strong immune response and even lead to complications such as skin necrosis or scarring.

5. Patients taking blood thinners
People taking aspirin, warfarin, Plavix, or other blood thinners are at increased risk of bleeding and bruising after the injection. In some cases, the medications can be stopped under medical supervision for a few days before the injection, but this requires approval from the treating physician.

6. People with a history of keloid scars or poor wound healing
Keloid scars are thickened, raised scars that tend to develop following injuries or medical procedures. People who have a tendency to form hypertrophic scars or keloids may be at risk of developing lumps or an abnormal reaction after the injection. In such cases, a doctor should be consulted before treatment.

7. Patients who have undergone previous improper aesthetic treatments
People who have previously been injected with permanent, non-degradable materials, such as industrial silicone or unapproved materials, may be at high risk of severe inflammatory reactions in the event of hyaluronic acid injections. In some cases, the new injection may trigger an immune response or create subcutaneous lumps.

8. People who have recently undergone laser treatments, deep chemical peels, or absorbable threads
If a significant skin treatment has been performed in the past few weeks, it is recommended to wait at least two weeks to a month before undergoing hyaluronic acid injections. This is because the skin is still in the healing process, and adding fillers may worsen sensitivity, cause unnecessary swelling, or impair the final result.

9. People with blood clotting disorders
Medical conditions such as hemophilia or thrombocytopenia (a lack of blood clotting) can increase the risk of severe bleeding and severe bruising after injections. Patients with clotting problems must undergo a thorough medical evaluation before undergoing treatment.

10. People with certain neurological problems
Although hyaluronic acid does not directly affect the nervous system, extreme caution should be exercised in cases of serious neurological diseases, such as myasthenia gravis or multiple sclerosis, as the effect of the injection may be different from normal, especially if combined with Botox.
