How to prepare before treating nasolabial folds, marionette lines & barcode wrinkles

Getting ready for aesthetic treatments is just as important as the treatment itself. A little preparation can help reduce the risk of bruising, swelling, and discomfort—ensuring your skin looks its best, faster.

Here’s how to prep before your treatment for nasolabial folds, marionette lines, or barcode wrinkles:

A Few days before treatment:

1. Avoid blood thinners
To reduce bruising, avoid the following 3–5 days before your appointment (if medically safe for you):

• Aspirin
• Ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin)
• Vitamin E
• Fish oil
• Alcohol
• Certain herbal supplements (e.g., garlic, ginkgo, ginseng)

2. Stay hydrated
Drink plenty of water to keep your skin plump and improve healing. Well-hydrated skin responds better to fillers and boosters.

3. Limit sun exposure
Avoid sunbathing, tanning beds, or intense sun exposure. Inflamed or sunburned skin cannot be treated.

Day of the treatment:

1. Arrive with a clean face
Avoid makeup, lotions, or skincare products in the treatment area.

2. Eat a light meal
Having something in your stomach can help prevent lightheadedness during treatment.

3. Wear comfortable clothing
Especially if you’re receiving threads or laser, wear something loose around the neck and jaw area to avoid friction.

 Optional (but helpful):

• You may gently ice the area before treatment to minimize potential swelling (we’ll also do this if needed).
• Arnica supplements (starting 1–2 days prior) may help reduce bruising post-treatment.

What to expect after treatment?
