Nose sculpting - is the treatment painful? There are a variety of ways to relieve it!
General information and methods for pain relief
Rhinoplasty is an aesthetic procedure in which fillers (usually hyaluronic acid) are injected to reshape the nose, smooth out bumps, enhance contours, or correct asymmetries. It is a non-surgical procedure with a relatively short recovery time, but it may cause mild to moderate pain.
Pain levels
Most patients report only mild discomfort, but the sensation of pain depends on several factors:
•Personal sensitivity – everyone has a different pain threshold.
•Injection area – the tip of the nose and the bridge of the nose are more sensitive.
•Presence of anesthetics – some hyaluronic acids contain lidocaine, which relieves pain.
•Injection technique – using a cannula instead of a needle can reduce pain and bruising.
Methods for relieving pain after treatment
1. Local cooling – applying ice wrapped in a thin cloth can reduce pain and swelling.
2. Mild painkillers – Paracetamol can be taken in case of pain, but aspirin or ibuprofen should be avoided as they may increase bleeding.
3. Avoiding contact and pressure on the nose – It is recommended to avoid heavy glasses, rubbing or massaging the area.
4. Using soothing creams – Arnica gel can help reduce bruising and discomfort.
5. Sleeping in the correct position – It is recommended to sleep with your head slightly elevated to reduce swelling.
6. Avoiding extreme heat – Do not expose yourself to a sauna, very hot showers or strenuous exercise for the first two days.
Most pain and discomfort disappear within a day or two, and if there is unusual pain or extreme swelling – it is worth contacting your doctor.
